You Can Be a Doctor is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation founded and run by a team of senior medical students and doctors. We support state school pupils who are applying for studying medicine at university and encourage everyone to consider it as an option. We passionately believe in equal opportunity for young people from areas and schools that do not have a tradition for producing medical students.
Deciding that you want to go to university and study medicine is a huge decision and making that choice can be a big commitment. Getting into Medicine is becoming increasingly difficult so it is important more than ever that you work hard to achieve the required grades at school, and build up an excellent personal statement through extracurricular activities and work experience. We hope to be able to help and guide you from the beginning, from the point when you are considering medicine, until you apply.
The events we run are mainly aimed at pupils who attend a state school in the Edinburgh and Lothians. We are in no way connected to Medical School Admissions at the university. If you would like specific advice regarding entry requirements and course choices then you should contact the relevant medical school. If you have any questions about anything to do with becoming a medical student or a doctor, or any constructive criticism about the website then please feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org
