DWAMMS Virtual Shadowing Terms of Use

TERMS OF USE FOR DWAMSS VIRTUAL SHADOWING EXPERIENCES

Personal Data Collection, Storage and Usage

Dundee Widening Access to Medical School Society (DWAMSS), on initial sign up, will collect only your name, age range, email address, and whether you have consented to these terms and conditions, or, if under the age of 18, have parental/guardian consent to utilise DWAMSS Virtual Shadowing Experience Modules. Data will be collected via a Google Form; google as a company comply with EU-U.S. and Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shields; more detail of their privacy policies can be located here - https://policies.google.com

 

The above information will only be utilised to send the access link to your email, after which all your data will be permanently deleted. At no time will third parties have access to your data, and following deletion after sending the access link, DWAMSS will no longer have access to your data. The maximal length of time DWAMSS will have access to your data will be four-weeks.

 

During the time your data is stored, prior to sending the access link, your data will be stored in an online password-protected Google Drive account, which only senior DWAMSS members will have access to, in accordance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Your data will only be used once to send the access link.

 

Terms of Use of DWAMSS Virtual Shadowing Experiences

By agreeing to these terms and conditions you accept that you, or if you are under the age of 18 that your parent or legal guardian, have read the following, thus are informed of the general subjects and content which are covered within the experiences. Please note that any information within the broad subjects and content listed below could be discussed, and that by agreeing to these terms and conditions you accept that any information within subjects and content listed below could and/or will be discussed. Subjects and content include, but not limited to, includes:

 

  • The anatomy and physiology of the respiratory system

  • Epidemiology (including death rates), symptoms and management of Asthma

  • The use of SOCRATES

  • A respiratory examination on a semi-unclothed (upper limbs, chest, abdomen and back exposed) male

  • The anatomy of the skeletal system

  • The discussion of fractures, with graphic radiological images of fracture types and in-situ equipment.

  • The use of ABCDE to assess an acutely unwell patient.

  • The epidemiology, symptoms, pathophysiology and management of depressions

  • The use of the mental state examination

  • A consultation with a simulated patient simulating depression where suicide risk is or is not discussed

  • A consultation with a simulated patient simulating mania

  • A consultation with a simulated patient simulating schizophrenia

  • A consultation with a simulated patient simulating chest pain from a cardiac origin and discussing death from myocardial infarctions

  • A consultation with a simulated patient simulating symptoms pertaining to their “moles” where skin cancer is actively discussed 

  • A demonstration of airway management including airway maneuvers, oropharyngeal insertion, nasopharyngeal insertion, i-Gel insertion, intubation. 

  • A discussion regarding the indications for airway management. 

 

By agreeing to these terms and conditions you do not and cannot hold DWAMSS responsible for any offence, damage, or harm (physical or psychological) should it occur from undertaking DWAMSS virtual shadowing experiences. 

By agreeing to these terms and conditions you agree any information learned from the Site does not constitute official medical advice or education and does not allow you to practice or teach any aspect of Medicine. By agreeing to these terms and conditions you further agree to not use any medical knowledge learned on DWAMSS virtual shadowing experiences outwith the context of DWAMSS virtual shadowing experiences. In the event you use information learned from DWAMSS virtual shadowing experiences outwith the context if DWAMSS virtual shadowing experiences, by agreeing to these terms and conditions you agree that you will not and cannot hold DWAMSS or any of our respective officers, agents, and partners responsible for any misinformation delivered to another individual, or harm, including death, which may come to an individual as a result of you using medical information learned from the Site. 

 

Please note, no content from DWAMSS virtual shadowing experiences is to be copied or distributed by any individual or agency. 

 

All or any anonymised answers you provide within DWAMSS virtual shadowing experiences, including the feedback answers at the end of the experiences, will remain stored within the Typeform website. Since this data is anonymised, there will not be the possibility to delete specific participants answers. These anonymised answers will be utilised to improve the current experiences, build new experiences, and may also be published in medical education journals, or on medical education websites, to aid improve widening participation experiences for others. 

 

We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to make changes or modifications to these Terms of Use at any time and for any reason. We will alert you about any changes by updating the "Last updated "date of these Terms of Use, and you waive any right to receive specific notice of each such change.

 

By agreeing to these terms of use you consent to the collection and short term storage of your personal data, for the sole purpose of sending the access link, as stated above; this data will then be deleted. By agreeing to these terms of use you also consent to the storage and utilisation of anonymised answers and feedback within the virtual shadowing experiences, to be used by DWAMSS as stated above.
